Cruise - Athens, Greece and Corfu Day 1

We got up at 05:15 (ouch!) showered and finished our packing.  We did a self-disembark at 06:30 (meaning we took our own luggage off the ship, as opposed to putting it out the night before and then picking it up at the carousel after walking off the ship).  This is the first time we have done a self-disembark and it turned out to be a very simple process - we simply wheeled our luggage to the lift, caught the lift to Deck 2 and walked off the ship with our luggage - easy-peasy.

Our transfer was slightly delayed because of a car accident on the free-way, but we were soon on our way to the airport.  We checked in and then went to find some coffee and pastries for breakfast, before heading to our boarding gate.

Our flight had one short bout of turbulence, but other than that was quick and uneventful.  The views were stunning.

I had no idea that the arrival in Corfu involved flying over the sea until moments before touch-down - so for a brief, but horrifying, moment I thought we were landing in the sea.... THAT got the adrenaline pumping!!  We landed at the cute Corfu airport  an hour after take-off.   Our landlord, Sotos, was waiting for us at the airport.  He is SUCH a sweet and friendly man.  The drive to Villa Artemis, the villa we have rented from him in Barbati, took about 25 minutes.

The villa is AMAZING.  Homely, but with lovely amenities... and the view!  Incredible!  The beach is a short walk down a little hill.

We spent the afternoon settling in and swimming in the gorgeous pool.  Rox and Jon took a taxi into nearby Ipsos to buy some groceries.

Later on we took a stroll down to the restaurant on the beach and had a lovely dinner and drank in the spectacular views.

Can I just put it out there.... I am deeply in love with Barbati....
