Cruise - Sea day

We had a bit of a lie-in this morning as it's a sea day and then headed up to the pool deck to meet Rox, Jon and Issy.  We went and had some breakfast with Lisa and Trev at the Aqua spa Cafe.

We then lazed on loungers at the pool side until 10:30 when us girls did a tour of the galley.  It was fascinating.  We were given a glass of champagne (or a soft drink) and the officer in charge gave a little talk and introduced us to the various Heads of Departments.  Some interesting facts: about 17 trucks deliver groceries at the start of each cruise.  They can draw stats from any day years back, breaking down demographics of passengers and what was consumed that day.  This makes ordering and prep pretty much spot-on.  They do a massive amount of recycling and funds earned from this go to staff development - which is a great incentive for the staff to embrace the recycling efforts.  They have a licence to liquidise left overs and pump them out to sea as fish food (they have to be a certain distance away from shore before they pump out, obviously.)  The Equinox is one of 2 ships out of 400 to have a 100% rating for health and sanitation - rigorous inspections are carried out.  We were then divided into smallish groups for the tours.  We toured the 4th floor kitchen - there is an identical one on the 3rd floor.  It was really a very interesting tour, highly recommended.

Once our tour was over we spent some more time at the pool.  Issy loved watching the line dancing.  We then had buffet lunch and after that it was nap-time!

In the evening we spent some more time on the lawn with Issy.  There is a lady from Romania with her little boy who we have met there a couple of times, he's a bit younger than Issy, but it's nice for the kids to interact,

We watched the early show, Toppers, which we again thought was excellent.  We decided to take Issy along, so we sat right in the back in case she needed to be taken out.  She was mesmerised by the show, absolutely loved it and when she got to meet one of the performers afterwards she was quite beside herself... but was overcome with shyness when she actually got up close!

Tonight was "Evening Chic" so we got to have lobster with our dinner, it was very good.
